17.5m Geodesic Dome

Construction

The frame is of curved laminated beams each of 3 laminates bonded with Resourcinol.

The timber are assembled with fabricated steel connectors with galvanised finish.

The overslung cover is of acrylic coated polyester (fire certificate).

Access

Via 5 arched openings each 6.5 metres across the base. These openings can be infilled with removable fabric panels, three of which are z fitted with two laced openings.

Imposed loading

For lighting, sound and rigging - 65 kilos per frame connector.

Anchorage

The structure must be anchored except for situations which are, sheltered, short term, attended by a tent crew member and with local authority approval.

Anchorage in soft ground is via ten 600mm by 25mm diameter stakes.

Anchorage on hard standing via rawlbolts or ballast.

Set up time

Aproximately 4 hours for four people.

Fire certificate to BS 5438.
Structural calculations by Robert West Consulting.
Wind loading to CP3 chapter V, Part 2 'Wind loading'.
